Why Donating Is Important To Me

Growing up, I lived in warmer climates. I was never exposed to the colder seasons like fall (autumn for my British readers ðŸ˜‰) and winter until I moved to the United States for high school. I saw snow for the first time when I was sixteen. Since, I grew up with warm weather all year round I never got to experiment with fall fashion. I think that is why I fell in love with fall weather and fashion. The moment the temperature drops, I am online looking for new fall pieces! To make room for the new, I like to donate my older pieces of clothing.

For this post, I am partnering with the amazing people at boohoo to let you know the importance of donating. I prefer donating clothing than the alternative, which is throwing them away. Throwing clothes away is wasteful. This year I donated a scarf and a sweatshirt to Goodwill. Goodwill is a nonprofit organization that uses the profits made from selling donated items to enhance the dignity and quality of life of individuals and families by strengthening communities, eliminating barriers to opportunity, and helping people in need reach their full potential. Donating can be in the form of giving clothes, books, or money to a clause you believe in or think will better someone else's life. As cheesy as it sounds, a little goes a long way. One of the items I donated, I have had since I experienced my first fall in the U.S.. I normally do not like giving away things that have sentimental value but I think it is time to say goodbye to the old and say hello to the new!
